Breath of the Wild patch adds in items obtained via a new news channel

Nintendo released a new patch today for Breath of the Wild, taking the game to version 1.3.1. Included within the patch notes is a rather surprising bit of information.

Nintendo will apparently be adding a news channel to the home menu entitled “Tips from the Wild”, and by clicking on articles within the channel, players will be rewarded with items in game.

What content the news channel will contain exactly is still unknown, though the title suggests various tips and tricks for surviving in Hyrule. According to the patch notes, the channel is set to launch tomorrow on August 9. There’s also a qualifying note at the end which states: “depending on your game progress and location, certain items may not be obtainable’” This could mean there’s a few rare weapons or materials up for grabs!

Elsewhere in the patch, there’s a fix for an issue some players were having with the Master Trials expansion which saw defeating certain enemies for Kilton not counted towards completion when playing in Master Mode. Plus there’s the usual array of non-specific fixes to improve gameplay, most likely some frame rate tweaks.
