Bethesda details how Skyrim’s Zelda assets came about

Nintendo are being a little bit less precious with their key franchises these days it seems, what with the Mario/Rabbids crossover for example, and Nintendo branded items coming to Rocket League. One of the cooler collaborations that’s cropped up so far in the Switch era is the inclusion of some Breath of the Wild themed stuff in the upcoming Skyrim for Switch.

Pete Hines, Bethesda’s Vice President of Marketing, spoke briefly about how the collaboration came about during an interview with Geoff Keighley over on Gameslice during E3. “We talked to the Breath of the Wild folks, and they were big Skyrim fans themselves and loved the idea. We really wanted to kind of do an integration with them – their open world thing, our open world thing. It was a lot of fun. They were great with providing us with all kinds of assets to make it feel like a cool, unique thing for Skyrim.”

It’s great to hear Nintendo were enthusiastic about the inclusion and went the extra mile to ensure that the Master Sword and Hylian shield look as accurate as possible in their excursion into Tamriel. We still don’t have a concrete release date yet, but Hines reiterated that the game would be coming ‘later this year.’ I can’t wait to slay dragons on the go in my Champion’s Tunic!
